Richard Walker

OEM Manager

Growing up outside of Detroit, Michigan my first brush with manufacturing was a tour of the famous Ford Motor Company River Rouge plant in fifth grade. A serious interest in history led to the founding of my first small company at age 13, making molds and casting historical replicas.  My sales education soon followed as I worked in the real estate and clothing fields while at university.  After graduating from The University of Michigan with a degree in history I worked at the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer and ended up living in Hong Kong.  Upon leaving government service I worked with Chinese factories to produce a wide variety of products for the U.S. and European markets.

After twenty years in the toy industry as a General Manager and V.P. of sales, marketing and product development a wonderful opportunity came up at DDI to put my familiarity with China production, product development and sales together to help the OEM division grow.  Over the last few years I have had the privilege to regularly visit many of the DDI offices and factories that run the length of the eastern seaboard of China and have developed close relationships with them.  There is a high level of trust and communication between DDI US and DDI China thanks to these regular visits and mutual understanding of the others culture.

China has changed a lot in the twenty six years I have been working with them, but one thing has remained consistent, my dedication to delivering the best product possible for my customers.
